The purpose of MPHEA is to build a community of like-minded Christian homeschooling families (united by
a statement of faith) and to support them in their journey of training up the next generation.

We seek to do this by gathering for social and academic events throughout the year and by sharing information about resources and opportunities for homeschoolers.

Statement of faith

I believe God has existed from all eternity in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ was God come in human flesh, born of a virgin, being fully God and fully man except without sin.
I believe the Bible is the only inspired and infallible Word of God and constitutes His revelation to man. The Bible, in its original autograph, is without error in whole and in part, including theological concepts as well as geographical and historical details.
I believe God created mankind in His own image, biologically male or female, and that each person remains without choice his/her God-given gender throughout life. I believe in the biblical definition of marriage: a God-ordained institution consisting of the union of one man and one woman. I believe that any form of sexual sin–either inside or outside the bonds of marriage–is contrary to the Word of God.
I believe the central purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ was to pay the penalty for man’s sin through his substitutionary death on the cross. The successful accomplishment of this was attested to by His subsequent visible, bodily resurrection.
I believe salvation is offered as a gift, free to the sinner. This gift must be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone.
I believe in the personal imminent return of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I believe a personal experience of salvation, through faith in Jesus, is the only way to come into the kingdom of heaven and inherit eternal life. I have had this personal experience.

These statements of belief do not exhaust the extent of the beliefs of MPHEA. The Bible itself speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind; it is the sole and final source of all the beliefs of MPHEA. For purposes of MPHEA’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, the MPHEA Board is MPHEA’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.

FAQ

What is required to become a member?

Members must hold to the Statement of Faith that is foundational to the MPHEA community; submit a new application each year; pay annual dues; attend both Spring and Fall Business Meetings; serve on one committee for the year; abide by the MPHEA policies regarding facilities, organizations, events, and behavior; and supervise their children at all times.

What happens after I’ve submitted my application?

After applications and payments are submitted, the MPHEA Application will go before the Board members to be reviewed during the summer meeting. Co-op Applications go to the Co-op Leader. The waiting period feels long and stressful for some; just know that if you have submitted your application and payment you have done everything on your end and at that point you are waiting on the MPHEA Board meeting to review everything.

How will I know when my Application has been accepted?

Once accepted, our MPHEA President will reach out to you and welcome you into the group, and the Co-op Leader will help you get your children placed into Co-op classes.

When is the deadline for Applications?

We start accepting applications on May 1st. Co-op Member positions are on a first come first serve basis, and if we don’t have enough capacity in our classrooms at Co-op for more students, we will put those families on a waiting list. Submitting your applications as quickly as possible will put your name toward the top of the list. We do not accept any applications after AUGUST 1st.

Are all Applications accepted?

On occasion we have had applicants whose views or beliefs don’t align with our faith statement or possibly families who didn’t understand the level of commitment required for Co-op, so those families won’t be accepted, but the Member Coordinator will reach back out to any families to gain further information that their applications may be lacking should this be an issue. Any applications that aren’t accepted will have all monies returned to them by our Treasurer.

Do I have to join MPHEA? I really only want to participate in Co-op.

MPHEA has many committees, including Spelling Bee, Science/History/International Fair, Showcase, etc. Co-op is considered one of those committees, and it is required to join MPHEA in order to participate in Co-op. You also gain the benefit of participating in the other events with your family should you desire to do so!

Will I have to participate in a committee?

Every family that joins MPHEA is placed on a committee to help host and plan an event. These are not chosen randomly. You will get to rank which committees you wouldn’t mind serving on, then the MPHEA Member Coordinator will place you on the committee of one of your choices to fulfill the greatest need.

How much does it cost to join MPHEA and Co-op?

MPHEA fees: Early bird May 1st-June 15th: $45, Regular Pricing June 16th-August 1st: $60

Co-op fees: Building Fee of $40 (due each semester) + various individual class fees, typically around $10 for younger age classes, $40 for older age classes. There are some high school classes that may require extra resources/books/cost.
